the first time i played, I was able to wake the guardian. I found the 3 sisters statue but got stuck and went to sleep. when I tried to play the next day, I remembered that I got stuck (not physically but like mentally) so I chose to play new game. it didn't let me wake the guardian and I tried to restart the game, it still didn't work. any ideas on how I can make it work?
Did waking up the guardian work the first time? If so, I wonder if you've stumbled upon some very obscure bug, or if there is weird browser mischief afoot. Something to look into for me!
In any case, you could try reloading the page, I think that should work. If not, something like starting a new game + the emptying the cache with ctrl + F5 should do the trick.
The solution for the cart path is given as a clue, so there's no need to brute force it like I did. In case you need it before finding the proper clue:

I got distracted and only now just tried it. it didn't work (I'm on Chromebook so I did control+ shift+ r)
